Sisters In Shelter Decade of Freedom Celebration and Fundraiser

Celebrate the Life of Sr. Mary Kuhlman

TIFFIN, OHIO – February 16, 2024: Join community and business leaders commemorating the life of Sr Mary Kuhlman with the Sisters in Shelter Decade of Freedom Celebration, 5:30-7:30 pm Thursday April 25, 2024, at the Elizabeth Schaefer Auditorium, 190 St Francis Ave, Tiffin.

The night will include live music by No Eileen, keynote presentation by nationally renowned speaker and survivor, Elesondra Deromano, Executive Director of S.T.A.R.S, dedication to Sr Mary Kuhlman, silent auction, and a brief meeting.

Your support at this event will directly contribute to critical support services provided for survivors which include shelter, counseling, legal aid, and vocational training; and to expand awareness campaigns by educating community members to recognize the signs of human trafficking and how to report it.

Tickets for the Decade of Freedom Fundraiser are available now at http://tinyurl.com/4kyupj95. There is a cash bar & heavy hors d’oeuvres. Business attire is appropriate. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of something truly impactful. Together we can make a difference.

Sisters in Shelter, which began in 2005, is a non-profit organization that supports survivors and illuminate the atrocities of human trafficking through community education and advocacy. Sisters in Shelter provides critical first needs for women survivors of human trafficking: emergency safe housing, medical care, safety planning, and legal advocacy. Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s Community Read Author Meeting Event
Apr 30 @ 6:30 PM

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is excited to announce The Paris Daughter by Kristin Harmel as the 2024 Christopher D. English Community Read title. Each year the Community Read encourages people in Seneca County to read the selected title and come together for special events and discussions.

As the featured event in the Community Read, Kristin Harmel, a New York Times best-selling author, will speak to the community on Tuesday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chandelier Community Event Center. The author event is completely free and open to the community and will be followed by a book signing. Copies of The Paris Daughter will be available for purchase thanks to the Pan Yan Bookstore.

The Paris Daughter is a gripping historical novel about two mothers who must make unthinkable choices in the face of the Nazi occupation. It is a sweeping celebration of resilience, motherhood, and love. Copies of the book can be checked out at the Library, and the eBook and audiobook can be found on the Ohio Digital Library and the Libby app.

Additional events accompanying the author visit, including an adult craft night, book discussion, and plant swap, will be released in greater detail at a later date.

The Christopher D. English Community Read was recently named in memory of former library trustee Christopher D. English and encourages Seneca County residents to read, think about, and discuss one outstanding title each spring, culminating in the author giving a public presentation in Tiffin. Past speakers have included New York Times best-selling authors Sarah Penner and Michael Hingson, Pulitzer Prize finalist and LA Times columnist Steve Lopez, and international best-selling author Janet Beard. The series is made possible through generous funding by the Tiffin-Seneca Library Foundation and the many donors who have contributed to the Foundation over the years. For more information call 419-447-3751 or visit www.tiffinsenecalibrary.org/community-read.
