Upcoming Christmas Open House at SpiritSpace Gallery & Gifts on St. Francis Campus
St. Francis Spirituality Center and SpiritSpace Gallery & Gifts will host a Christmas Open House at 200 St. Francis Ave. on Saturday, December 9, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Sister Jane Frances Omlor, OSF, is proud to introduce new artists, many of whom are her adult pottery students who are now quite accomplished: Denise Coppus, Suzanne Frank, Brenda Burns, Courtney Coppus, and Pastor Karsten Snitker will all be exhibiting and selling beautiful gift items. A new addition to our pottery on display will be retired art teacher Beth Boyer. Beth specializes in hand-building techniques and will add a unique twist to our displays. Another addition is Jayne Goshe from Tiffin, who specializes in handmade fabric gnomes. The gnomes are around 10″ tall and come in a variety of colors.
Along with Sister Jane and Tina Mira’s pottery, Chad Shock’s wood pieces also make unique gifts, especially his wooden birdhouse tree ornaments. A collection of Nativity sets, Advent items, and books that enhance the spiritual dimension of life are for sale.
Ten Thousand Villages of Bluffton, Ohio, will be selling various Fair Trade products from around the world. Fair Trade is an economic relationship by which those with privilege can empower artisans to raise their standard of living, feed their families, and pursue an education by providing a market for the products they create. Ten Thousand Villages was the first Fair Trade storefront in the US and opened almost 50 years ago in downtown Bluffton. Ten Thousand Villages celebrates the works of artists and non-governmental organizations from thirty countries that create jewelry, housewares, textiles, baskets, toys, and Christmas décor.
SpiritSpace also sells Fair Trade coffee, tea, and chocolate. The SpiritSpace philosophy is to support local artists and those who benefit from Fair Trade and not exploitation.
The Open House will include refreshments, door prizes, and live Christmas music from local musicians. Come and enjoy some time in an atmosphere of beauty, comradery, and Christmas spirit.
