Saturday, August 10 (9:00am – 4:00pm) Oasis Day Mini Retreat “Rise Up! Do Not Be Afraid” at St. Francis Spirituality Center, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.

In such a complex world as ours, it is common to feel helpless, fearful, and unsafe. And yet, the Christian scriptures tell us to not be afraid. How do we do this?

Fear is a basic aspect in all living things. As it was for our earliest ancestors and all of life before us, fear is hard-wired in our human system for survival. We live in a world of uncertainty and concern for our well-being, those we love and all creation. Fear is a shared, collective experience in our human make-up. Living with it is often overwhelming, and disruptive and we can often feel alone. In this retreat, we will draw from the wisdom and power of Scripture, nature, poetry, and music. We will create a safe space for listening, connecting with others and learning skills to help us on the journey. We will rise-up and deepen our experience of what it could mean to “be not afraid.”
