Tuesday, September 6th (6:30-8:00pm) “Preparing Vegetable Gardens in the Fall” – Fall Education Series at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, 194 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.
Presenter: Rita Wienken, OSF/T
As the growing season for your vegetable garden winds down, there are a number of tasks that need accomplished so your garden’s soil can rest and be ready for spring planting. Since 1982, Sister Rita has been engaged in the production of organic foods as a farmer and a gardener. In 2005, she founded the Seeds of Hope Farm, on the St. Francis Campus, which is dedicated to the production of chemical-free produce, pastured poultry, and eggs from free range laying hens. Sister Rita comes with a passion and vision to educate people about the need for healthy, local food system. This local food system model includes assisting families with growing some of their own food that is both simple and fun to do. Donations accepted.
