Sacramental gifts and cards for Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Weddings and more are available in SpiritSpace Gallery & Gifts, located inside St. Francis Spirituality Center, 200 St. Francis Ave., in Tiffin. Saturday, April 29 (10:00-11:30am) Organic Gardening 101 at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, 194 St Francis Ave, Tiffin.

Learn simple organic gardening techniques that will have your neighbors wondering how your garden produce can look so great without using harmful pesticides and herbicides. From the soil to those nasty bugs, we will explore the basics of organic gardening techniques.

Presenter: Sr. Rita Wienken, OSF, an organic farmer for 40 years and founder of FELC and Seeds of Hope Farm. Donations welcome. Registration required. For more info, call FELC (419) 448-7485.

 

Saturday, May 6 (8:00-10:00am) Annual Plant Sale at Seeds of Hope Farm, located on the St. Francis Campus, 194 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.

You will find a wide variety of chemical – free flowers, as well as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, herbs and more! There will be microgreens and hydroponic lettuce and greenhouse tomatoes, for sale, too.

With a large variety of flower and veggies at just $2.00/4-pack, we have everything you need to get your gardens off to a great start.

Enjoy complimentary donuts and fresh coffee, donated by Tim Horton’s…available while supplies last!

Community Garden Plots at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center on the St. Francis Campus in Tiffin.

 

Rent 20’x30’ plots ($125), 20’x15’ plots ($90) or mini plots 10’x15’ ($60). This includes use from May – October (weather permitting). Monday, May 22 (6:30-7:30pm) or Tuesday, May 23rd (7:00-8:00pm) Simple Living: Laudato Si’ Week 2023 offered by St. Francis Spirituality Center (Greecio Room), 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin. 

Gather to pray, learn, discuss, and discern how to take concrete actions to live simply and yet more abundantly. Refreshments and light snacks provided. This program will be offered in person on Monday, May 22nd and by Zoom on Tuesday, May 23rd  from 7:00-8:00pm. Free will offering. Thursday, May 25 (6:30-8:00pm) Succession Planting at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, 194 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin. 

Succession planting is a method of planting a variety of vegetables throughout the growing season. With just a little forethought and creativity, you too can utilize this method to obtain repeated harvests of your favorite veggies from spring through fall!

Saturday, June 3 (9:00am-12:00pm) Oasis Day Mini Retreat – Sculpting our Spirit: A Body Spirituality Mini-Retreat at St. Francis Spirituality Center, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.

Michelangelo needed to see inside the body to sculpt David or Pieta. Through lecture, conversation, media, and walking/stretching, we hope to come to new respect for and gratitude for the possibilities God has given us in our body and sculpt our spirit into health and new life. Presented by Sr. Paulette Schroeder, OSF.

Monday, May 29 (12:00-3:30pm) Annual Memorial Day Arts & Craft Show, at St. Francis Spirituality Center, 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.  

Pottery, quilting, wood pieces items for sale by local artists. Demonstrations, games, food and more.  The 3 D’s Ice Cream Gang with deluxe sundaes and floats are back again.  All proceeds go to a veteran organization.

 

Dine –to-Donate on Monday, June 5 for World Environment Day at Xcaret Mexican Restaurant, between 11:00am-10:00pm, and 15% of your dine-in or carry-out order will be donated to the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center (FELC) in Tiffin. Just mention FELC to your server when you order, show them the Facebook post or hand them the printed flyer.

 

Wednesday, June 28 (7:00-8:30pm) Book Club offered by Zoom by via Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, Tiffin. 

Join FELC in reading and discussing four books this year, led by Linda Haas, retired educator and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist.

The Overstory unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fables that range from New York to the Pacific Northwest and beyond. There is an almost invisible world alongside ours. This is the story of people who learn how to see that world and who are drawn up into its unfolding catastrophe.
