Saturday, April 29 (10:00-11:30am) Organic Gardening 101 at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, 194 St Francis Ave, Tiffin.

Learn simple organic gardening techniques that will have your neighbors wondering how your garden produce can look so great without using harmful pesticides and herbicides. From the soil to those nasty bugs, we will explore the basics of organic gardening techniques.

Saturday, May 6 (8:00-10:00am) Annual Plant Sale at Seeds of Hope Farm, located on the St. Francis Campus, 194 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.

You will find a wide variety of chemical – free flowers, as well as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, herbs and more! There will be microgreens and hydroponic lettuce and greenhouse tomatoes, for sale, too.

With a large variety of flower and veggies at just $2.00/4-pack, we have everything you need to get your gardens off to a great start.

Community Garden Plots at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center on the St. Francis Campus in Tiffin.

 

Rent 20’x30’ plots ($125), 20’x15’ plots ($90) or mini plots 10’x15’ ($60). This includes use from May – October (weather permitting). Michelangelo needed to see inside the body to sculpt David or Pieta. Through lecture, conversation, media, and walking/stretching, we hope to come to new respect for and gratitude for the possibilities God has given us in our body and sculpt our spirit into health and new life. Presented by Sr. Paulette Schroeder, OSF.

The Overstory unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fables that range from New York to the Pacific Northwest and beyond. There is an almost invisible world alongside ours. This is the story of people who learn how to see that world and who are drawn up into its unfolding catastrophe.

Seeds of Joy Cooking Class will be offered on Saturday, June 3rd from 9:30-10:30am at Ralph’s Joy of Living, 33 North Washington St. in Tiffin.  

Enjoy a cooking class using microgreens and vegetables from the Seeds of Hope Farm on the St. Francis Campus and olive oils from Ralph’s Joy of Living to create marinades, dressings and much more. Different ingredients will be used each time. Classes will be held at Ralph’s Joy of Living and cost $20 per person. Space is limited. Please RSVP by noon on Thursdays at 419-447-1051.

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program
Jun 2 – Jul 31 all-day

The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will kick off the adult summer reading program on Friday, June 2 at 5:00 p.m. at a special kickoff program featuring The Whiz Bang Science Show for families of all ages. The reading program, open to all adults, will run until July 31.

This year, the Library is excited to partner with the Pan Yan Bookstore for the adult summer reading program. Participants will track the number of books read on reading logs that can be picked up at the Library or the Pan Yan Bookstore, or printed from the Library website. Reading or listening to books or magazines will earn prize entries. Each entry will earn the reader a chance to win a gift certificate from a local business. Participants can read books checked out from the Library, books they already own, or purchase new books from the Pan Yan Bookstore. Bring back reading logs to the Library after reading 10 books and receive a free water bottle and a coupon for a free book from the Pan Yan Bookstore. All reading logs must be turned in by the end of the day on Monday, July 31.

In addition to reading, adults can attend special programs throughout the summer. “Those Magical Dames: A Look at Women in Magic” will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m., featuring six overlooked female magicians, their trials and triumphs, and some of the magic they performed. Join Titanic historian Tom Dowling for a special program that explores the “Mysteries of the Titanic” on Tuesday, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. Tom will talk about different aspects of the ship and her passengers, and each mystery will feature a fun interactive element that will amaze both teens and adults alike! Doug Waller, founder of the Southeastern Ohio Society for Bigfoot Investigation will present “Bigfoot in Ohio” on Thursday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. He will discuss the Bigfoot phenomenon and share encounters he has collected over his years of research. Lastly, the summer adult craft night “Glitter & Glue: Boho Yarn Tapestry” will take place on Tuesday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. Registration for this program is required by visiting the online calendar at www.tiffinsenecalibrary.org beginning Friday, June 2.

The Library’s Extension and Outreach Services Department will bring the summer reading program to local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and homebound patrons again this year. For every book read, seniors will be entered to win a prize.

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s Junior Summer Reading Program

The Youth Services Department at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is excited to announce the summer reading program will begin on Friday, June 2 through Monday, July 31 children age three through entering fifth grade.

“Get Lost in a Good Book” this summer at the Library this summer by picking up a reading log at the Library, or downloading it from the Library’s website. Receive a free water bottle and book when you pick up your reading log. Earn grand prize entries by filling in leaves for every 20 minutes you read this summer, and by completing fun activities such as visiting the Tiffin Storybook Trail, or doing a science experiment. Turn in your logs by the end of the day Monday, July 31 to be eligible to win.

The Library will host several in-person programs this summer, including weekly drop-in programs, a kick off program featuring Whiz Bang Science with Dr. Dave, an animal program with Animal Magic, a musical performance by Beverly the Music Lady, a magic show from Dana Hill Magic, and more.

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program

The Teen Department at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is excited to announce that the summer reading program for teens entering sixth through entering twelfth grade will begin on Friday, June 2 and will conclude on Monday, July 31

“Get Lost in a Good Book” at the Library this summer by picking up a reading log, or printing it from the Library’s website. Teens will get a water bottle and a book when they pick up a log; while supplies last. Read for 20 minutes and fill in a spot on the reading log. For every ten spots filled in, earn a prize entry. Turn in reading logs by Monday, July 31 to be eligible to win prizes.

Join the Library every Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. for a fun teen program. Themes include ghost stories and s’mores, glow mini golf, DIY fairy jar, hot dog bar and board games, and more! Finish off the summer fun with an escape room and pizza party.  No registration is required.

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s“The Rubber Ducky Club” Reading Program for Babies
Jun 2 – Jul 31 all-day

The Youth Services Department at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will once again hold “The Rubber Ducky Club” reading program for babies age birth to 35 months, starting Friday, June 2 through Monday, July 31.

The program features early literacy reading activity suggestions (vocabulary, print awareness, letter knowledge, phonological awareness, print motivation and narrative skills) that encourages parents to read to their baby. Completing 60 activities will earn a prize. Activity logs can be picked up at the Library or printed from the Library website. Participants will get a bag, a shaky egg, and a scarf when they pick up their activity logs; while supplies last. Please turn in activity logs when completed. There is no need to check in throughout the summer, and there is no registration.

The Library believes that reading to baby not only creates a special bonding time together, but also builds their brain power, helps them learn language, encourages speech and prepares them to be readers.

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s 2023 Summer Reading Program with a kickoff carnival

The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will kick off the 2023 Summer Reading Program with a kickoff carnival on Friday, June 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Library parking lot and East Green.

Beginning at 5:00, sign up for summer reading, get a new Library card, and use sidewalk chalk to decorate the Library’s parking lot. The Tijuana Taco Truck will be parked so patrons can grab dinner while they do activities and enjoy an interactive science show with Dr. Dave at 6:00 p.m. Dr. Dave has the unique ability to take complex scientific concepts and explain them in a simple and fun manner. He brings his blend of fun and educational science experiments to the library in a show you will never forget. For all ages; registration is not required.

Tiffin Art Guild & Gallery’s Tiffin Art Festival

Tiffin-Seneca Public Library’s “Ghost Stories & S’mores”

The Teen Department at the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library will host “Ghost Stories & S’mores” on Tuesday, June 6 at 3:00 p.m. in the Frost Kalnow Room.

Teens entering grades six through twelve will create ghost stories to share with the group, then build a collaborative creepy story together. Smores and will be glow sticks provided. This program is part of the 2023 Summer Reading Program.
